Robotics can be a fun, effective way to teach students about subjects within the CTE pathways, but can also present challenges when it comes to implementation. Done poorly, robots in the classroom can be distracting, and even dangerous. But implemented correctly, robots can be a vehicle to teach students problem-solving skills, while giving them an engaging hands-on experience. This presentation aims to show teachers and administrators the different opportunities for implementing robotics within their schools. In this workshop we will use the Dobot Magician and a hands-on activity to walk through examples of how to construct and modify lesson plans to include robotics in a safe, effective way. We will also focus on using robotics as a recruiting tool for CTE programs, extra-curricular organizations, and industry. With an ever-narrowing STEM pipeline, it is essential for us to give students an opportunity to engage with robotics in a responsible, relevant context.
